CORE PHILOSOPHY
While it is common knowledge that pupils differ in their mode, rate, and set for learning, and while such differences must be recognized, understood, and explored by teachers in their long-range and daily plans, First Trinity Academy Leesburg holds that the total curriculum must be REASONED based. Each pupil must be provided multiple opportunities to develop and utilize progressively higher-order critical thinking skills.
FIRST TRINITY proposes that research-based teaching methods be utilized for all instructional inputs and that the same by reinforced through appropriate materials. Further, teachers shall establish motivation for learning. This process involves the use of open-ended questioning strategies followed by task assignment, teacher-direct assistance and observation, task evaluation, and feedback.
FIRST TRINITY utilizes the concept of Self-Awareness and the Fundamentals of Education to excite Kindergarten through third-grade pupils about the educational process. Safe Awareness is viewed in terms of sciences, health, social studies, art, music and languages, the disciplines that provide the pupils understanding of self and surroundings.
The fundamentals of education are reading, writing, and basic mathematics. Pupils must be able to read and comprehend what is read. Pupils must be able to properly form alphabets (penmanship), spell, construct sentences, construct simple paragraphs, and construct simple compositions. And, pupils must be able to do basic mathematics, including an understanding of the base systems - addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, and decimals.
Parents
Parents of the pupils are an intricate part of the educational experience. Parents are expected to participate in quarterly parent-teacher conferences. These conferences provide parents with an opportunity to review the work that is being performed by their child and the teachers. As well, parents have the opportunity to experience the technology being utilized. Parents must have a full appreciation for how their child is being educated. Pupils must know that their parents are involved and are working in partnership with their teachers in the educational process.
COMPETENT OUTCOME DETERMINATIVE CURRICULUM
FIRST TRINITY will utilize a competent outcome-determinative curriculum (CODC). This means that at the end of the educational year, pupils are competent in the core subjects. Competent means that each pupil has internalized and can utilize the information of the core subjects. Each pupil can readily share that information with other pupils and the teacher. And, each pupil can gather more information in those subjects and related subjects.
Outcome determinative means that the second day of study is based on what was taught on the first day. Therefore, day one lays the foundation for day two. Each day, pupils must master that day’s lesson in order to handle the next day’s lesson. Each day’s lesson is designed to lead into the next day so that each pupil is competent in the subject matter by the end of the year. As it is true for days in a year so is it true for years in a full education. Upon completion, each pupil is competent in all core subjects. Competency is based on each year of study.
Euthenics
Euthenics is the science that one’s atmosphere has a major impact on how one views oneself and the world. First Trinity Academy Leesburg operates in a structured and orderly method. Pupils are expected to behave in an orderly fashion. Pupils learning in a structured atmosphere have positive views of themselves and the world. Most importantly, they can focus on their education and achieve high marks.
